On May 15, 2025, a framework agreement was signed in Warsaw between the Armament Agency and WB Electronics SA for the delivery of nearly one thousand sets of WARMATE loitering ammunition. The agreement, valid until the end of 2035, assumes the acquisition of approximately one thousand sets of drones under subsequent implementation agreements.

Future deliveries of the acquired loitering ammunition will include its latest development versions.Today we are signing an important contract, an important framework agreement for the delivery of 10,000 drones, approximately one thousand sets, to the Polish Army. Implementation agreements will be signed cyclically, in order to most often buy the latest version for the Polish Army - said Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz.

- Ukraine's experience, the production capabilities that Ukraine has gained during the conflict, the change in the types of equipment used over the past three years, and the impact of drones and anti-drone systems, this is an absolute revolution in the perception of combat operations. Poland will not be left behind. Poland is one of the leaders. (…) We also plan, following the example of the Cyber Legion, to create a group of people willing not to serve in the army, but to help and defend the homeland, to support preparatory activities in the form of people supporting the army: experienced drone operators. The Drone Legion, next to the Cyber Legion, will be a place where people willing to volunteer, support soldiers, learn, create a support group and be ready to use at the moment of greatest danger.

- said Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz during the event.

WARMATE loitering ammunition is designed to identify and destroy, depending on the warhead used, lightly armored targets or enemy infantry. WARMATE can be used as a standalone system carried by soldiers or as an element of armament integrated with a vehicle. The system is equipped with control modules that allow full automation of most flight phases and support the operator in the targeting phase.

- This is a large investment on a huge scale. 10,000 Warmate drones are becoming a fact. They are coming to the Polish army soon. We will be signing the next contracts - then the executive ones - in the near future. After five months of the new Drone Troops Inspectorate's operation, this is probably the greatest effect - apart from the organizational and training effects, the development of the entire philosophy. For this, I would like to thank General Bodnar, the entire team for droneization of the Polish Army. I would like to thank the Armament Agency, all the people who work for this, and Minister Bejda, who supervises matters related to armaments. Because this is a great responsibility, this is a great mission: on behalf of the Polish state, to build the best army - the best equipped, the most experienced not only in terms of numbers, but above all in terms of capabilities and skills. And for this to be possible, the best equipment must be there. Once again - I am glad that we are buying it from the Polish company WB Electronics, WB Group. From a large Polish company. And what was a fundamental change: openness to industry - both state and private, but above all Polish industry. This is an absolutely sacred matter for us.

- noted the head of the Ministry of National Defense.

- The WB Electronics company has permanently entered the landscape of the Polish arms industry. We put an equal sign between the state arms industry and the private arms industry. We make sure that all equipment purchased for the Polish army is the best and at the best possible price. (…) Today we signed a contract for loitering ammunition, which has fulfilled its tasks in an absolutely perfect way also in Ukraine. (…) We will support the Polish defense industry, the Polish arms industry. We will fill the army with this equipment related to drones, with unmanned troops. (…) Unmanned troops are, and we are currently fulfilling our tasks related to the purchase of equipment for unmanned troops, and today this contract is an example of this

- said Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda after signing the agreement.

The value of the deal has not been disclosed. However, unofficial information indicates that it is approximately EUR 250 million.

Warmate loitering munition is intended for identifying and striking lightly armoured targets, field fortifications, or enemy personnel, depending on the applied warhead. The warheads are interchangeable and can include cumulative, fragmentation-explosive, incendiary, or thermobaric types.

The system is equipped with control modules that enable full automation of most flight phases and support the operator during the targeting phase. Operation is conducted in real-time, based on video transmission from the observation subsystem. The operator has full control over the choice of the system’s operating mode between the reusable reconnaissance mode and the one-time combat mode.

The characteristics of the combat platform differ depending on the version. According to the manufacturer, the device’s length is 1.1 metres, the wingspan is 1.6 metres, and the take-off weight is approximately 5.5 kilograms. It is powered by an electric motor driving a two-blade pusher propeller. The maximum flight duration is stated to be 60 minutes, and the range is limited by the radio link of the ground control station to 30 kilometres.

The flight altitude during the approach to the target ranges from 150 to 300 metres. The cruising speed is 80 km/h, while the maximum speed in attack mode is 150 km/h.
