Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Drones Use AI and Thermal Imaging
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Small Unmanned Aerial Systems program uses sophisticated drones equipped with thermal imaging, AI navigation, and real-time video launched from specialized vehicles and soon from rooftop “Sky Port” hubs to support faster, smarter responses.

Drones integrate with gunshot-detection and license-plate systems, and can fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) in some cases, giving officers vital intelligence before arrival, while maintaining flight logs and audit trails to protect privacy.

With 13 hubs planned and a growing pilot roster, this program is transforming how police approach high-risk incidents, putting the sky on the front lines of public safety.
